Everyone needs friends with whom they can share their sadness, happiness

In human life, friendship is an important part that cannot be neglected. Everyone needs friends with whom they can share their sadness, happiness, difficulties, and mutual support. Among all kinds of friends, a “Kalyanamitra” or “good friend” is the most valuable because such a friend guides us toward goodness, personal growth, and a better life.

A Kalyanamitra means a friend who is kind-hearted, honest, righteous, and always helps guide us toward the right path. A good friend is not someone who stays by our side only when we have wealth or status, but someone who remains with us when we face difficulties or various problems. They do not abandon us when we are struggling. Instead, they encourage us and help us find solutions to our problems.

A good friend always treats us well. They remind us when we make mistakes, encourage us to do good things, and motivate us to work hard in our studies or jobs with honesty. When we feel discouraged, a good friend says kind and encouraging words to give us the strength to move forward. Furthermore, a good friend does not lead us toward bad actions, such as stealing, gambling addiction, or using drugs. On the contrary, they encourage us to do good deeds and live in society with morality and good character.

In Buddhism, the Buddha taught that having a good friend is an important part of life. If a person has good and virtuous friends, they can learn knowledge, morality, and how to live a happy and meaningful life. Good friends help a person become better, earn the respect of others, and achieve success in life.

On the other hand, if a person has bad friends or friends who lead them down the wrong path, they may lose their future and fall into harmful behavior. Bad friends can encourage a person to neglect their studies, commit illegal acts, or damage their own reputation. Therefore, choosing friends is very important for everyone.

In conclusion, a Kalyanamitra, or good friend, is extremely valuable in life. A good friend guides us, gives us encouragement, and helps lead us toward success and happiness. Therefore, we should choose good friends and also strive to become good and virtuous friends to others, so that our society can have peace, unity, harmony, and progress.
